Fukuoka Prefecture hosts the Consulate Generals of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, and the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Consulate of the United States of America.

On May 13, Governor Hattori conducted an industrial tour and visited Yame City and Kurume City with the Consuls General and Chief Consuls General of these countries, along with the Director of Institut Francais Kyushu, and the Regional Representative of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Fukuoka.

In this tour, we visited "Yame Central Tea Plantation," where the season of new tea has come, which deepened their understanding of traditional culture and the charm of Yame tea through the experience of hand-kneading, which is a traditional technique for making tea.

In addition, to enable them to know the charm of our prefectural sake, the tour visited places including the internationally acclaimed sake brewery "Kitaya," the Fukuoka Bioinnovation Center, which was the first to be certified by the bio community in Japan, and Michi-no-Eki Kurume.

Mayor Tsuneyuki Mitamura of Yame City explained the charm of Yame City at the discussion meeting, and Mayor Shingo Haraguchi of Kurume City outlined the appeal of Kurume City at the Fukuoka Bioinnovation Center.

The governor said, "We hope you will experience to the full the traditional culture of the area and its attractions as a tourist destination, and tell as many people as possible about the charms of this prefecture."
