“Discover Kyushu” Cycling Tour Products Now on Sale!

Updated:2023年2月28日更新 print

Fukuoka Prefecture, in cooperation with Kyushu Tourism Organization, Kyushu Economic Federation, other prefectures in Kyushu, Okinawa Prefecture, and Yamaguchi Prefecture, is promoting the “Discover Kyushu” project to create and sell excursion-type cycling tour products in conjunction with Tour de Kyushu 2023, an international cycling road race.

The Discover Kyushu Promotion Committee, established in July 2021 and chaired by the chairman of Kyushu Tourism Organization, has conducted route surveys and organized pilot tours for travel agents and other experts in order to develop tour products incorporating cycling for both domestic and international visitors.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our first tour products for the domestic market, as well as the opening of the official Discover Kyushu website, at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28.

The first products feature 11 course plans. Of these, four courses are in Fukuoka Prefecture. All courses are guided and set up for beginners to enjoy, and can be purchased from the official website.

Attractive plans will be on sale from the second launch onward, so we look forward to welcoming a wide range of participants through the official website.

*Tour products for overseas markets will be sold through overseas travel agencies from time to time.

[Tour products in Fukuoka Prefecture to be sold in the first launch]

(1) Munakata and Nogata Ride: Where the Rivers meet the Sea (3.5 hours, 8,800 yen)

This 39 km course can be safely and comfortably traveled by families on two bicycle paths, the Onga-Munakata Bicycle Path and the Nogata-Kitakyushu Bicycle Path. The pine groves and coastline overlooking the Sea of Genkai, along with the Onga River, offer views of canola blossoms in spring and cosmos in autumn.

(2) Akizuki Ride: 1000-year-old Samurai Castle Town (3.5 hours, 8,800 yen)

This course takes you through the streets of the castle town of the Akizuki Domain, which was developed by Kuroda Nagaoki. There are many places to stop by, including a popular bakery and a historic Japanese sweets shop. The tour starts from the Asakura Tourism Association office adjacent to Amagi Station (Nishitetsu Amagi Line/Amagi Railway).

(3) Fukuoka City Ride: City Blessed by the Winds of the Gods (3.5 hours, 8,800 yen)

The course focuses on the Nishijin area, where traces of the battles for Japan’s survival remain amidst the typical scenery of Fukuoka, such as Fukuoka Tower and PayPay Dome. You will be able to contemplate history at spots such as the Genko Borui defensive wall.

(4) Hakata Ride: Port City of Merchants and Samurai (3.5 hours, 8,800 yen)

By touring the two distinct cities of Hakata, a merchant town, and Fukuoka, a castle town, you will be able to experience the expansion of the cities and the changes in their history in a way that can only be felt on a bicycle. This history ride is a fun way to learn and stimulate your intellectual curiosity.
