On December 23, 2020, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Fukuoka Prefecture, Omuta City regarding the implementation of pre-camps and exchange programs related to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Omuta City is a place closely related to Dr. Tetsu Nakamura, who was born in Fukuoka Prefecture and made an extraordinary contribution to Afghanistan.
Fukuoka Prefecture, together with Omuta City, will provide maximum support for safe and secure pre-camping so that athletes from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan can perform at their best in optimum conditions.
We hope that Afghan athletes will have a successful training camp and achieve their best performance in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
