(2)Telephone Consultation Dial Service for Foreign Workers

The Telephone Consultation Dial Service for Foreign Workers, opened by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, is available for workers, who has matters to consulate within 13 different languages such as English or Chinese.
In this dial service, we are able to consulate matters concerning labor problems, explanation on law and ordinances, and introduction to related organization.
Call rate will apply, 8.5 yen for every 180 seconds from landline, 10 yen for every 180 seconds from cellphones.

(3)Labor Standards Advice Hotline 

Labor Standards Advice Hotline is a commissioned service implemented by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. This is a toll-free number that can be reached from anywhere in Japan. The hotline can be dialed from landlines, cellphones, and public phones.
This hotline is able to consulate in 14 different languages such as Japanese, English, and Chinese. This hotline is available when the Prefectural Office or the Labor Standards Inspection Office is closed or in the weekends, we are able to consulate matters consuming labor problesm, explanation on law and ordinances, and introduction to related organizations.

We give you advice about disputes between foreign workers and employers, and spread information about labor policies.

Are your rights being protected under the Labor Standards Act and other legislation?

  • Employers must formally tell you about labor conditions and regulations when you start a job.
  • Employers must pay increased wages for overtime work.
  • Employers must give you annual paid leave if you work continuously for at least 6 months (with at least 80% attendance), even if you are a part-time worker.
  • Employers must undertake policies to prevent harassment and discrimination based on sexuality and nationality.
