Fukuoka persimmons exported to the United States for the first time

After lifting the ban on the export of persimmons from Japan to the United States from October of last year, Fukuoka prefecture is now working on the production of persimmons for the US.
The exportation of the Fukuoka-produced Taishu variety of persimmons to the US began in October. People were able to taste the sweet, crisp deliciousness of these Taishu persimmons at a promotional fair for mass retailers held on the East Coast of the US and Hawai'i.

The First Asian Rugby Festival of 2018!

On October 7, the Asian Rugby Exchange Festa X Rugby Tournament was held in Kasuga City. X Rugby is played with less intense body contact and made to secure safety. The tournament was the only match held in Fukuoka, the host city of the Rugby World Cup 2019 (TM) Japan Competition. Teams from overseas such as Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, and Macao also competed. The seven teams from Japan who joined fought a fierce battle. Fukuoka prefectural governor Ogawa also appeared at the venue to cheer on the participating players. The Asian Rugby Festival will be held again in 2019.

You can now enjoy "Fukuoka Yame-cha" at a UK Specialty Tea Shop

Fukuoka prefecture is now working on the expansion of "Yame-cha Fukuoka" to Europe. As part of this effort, a permanent Yame-cha section has been set up at the specialty tea shop COMINS TEA, and a tea brewing class was held from October 27 through 29. In addition to talking about the production of Yame-cha, as well as its history and production, participants were actually able to brew and appreciate the tea themselves. The corner will be set up until February 28, 2019 where high quality Yame-cha will be sold.

StarFlyer Kita-kyushu to Taipei (Taoyuan) airline now in service

Beginning on October 28, the StarFlyer Kita-kyushu-Taipei (Taoyuan) flight has started service and is operating one round-trip flight per day. This is the first regular service to Taiwan/Taipei in Kita-kyushu Airport, and the prefecture expects to see further developments for Taiwan regarding business and sightseeing in East Kyushu and various parts of Western Japan. Please enjoy the convenience now offered by the Kita-kyushu Airport.
