Request to restaurants and bars in Kurume City to shorten their business hours (As of April 22)

Updated:2021年4月22日更新 print

We would like to inform you; a meeting was held at the prefectural coronavirus for the new coronavirus and have decided to request all restaurants in Kurume City to shorten their business hours and ask for your cooperation.

The number of new cases in our prefecture has remained at a high level, exceeding 200 yesterday and 268 again today. The total number of new cases in the past week has increased about 1.5 times (from 754 to 1,164) since the last meeting of the task force on April 18, and the infection is spreading further.

By region, there has been distinct increase in Kurume City. The number of new cases in Kurume City today is 51, the highest number so far, and when the total for the last week is compared to the total for the week before that, it has quadrupled (from 34 to 137). The number of cases per 100,000 population increased from 11.2 to 45.3, exceeding Fukuoka City. As for the route of infection, there was an increase in the number of people infected by eating together (from 1% in March to 29% in April).

The prefectural government has been closely monitoring the situation of the infection in the southern area of the prefecture, including Kurume City, and has been contacting closely with Kurume City Hall. Kurume City has the largest downtown area in the Chikugo region and has a large impact on the surrounding areas, so furthering the spread of the infection must be stopped at all costs. After discussing with the mayor of Kurume City, it was decided to request all restaurants in Kurume City to shorten their business hours in addition to those in Fukuoka City.

The business hours will be from 5:00 to 21:00, with alcoholic beverages served from 11:00, and stop serving alcohol from 20:30.
Businesses that cooperate with the request will be provided with cooperation money grant. Small and medium-sized companies, depending on their sales will receive a range from 25,000 yen to 75,000 yen per day. Large companies depending on the amount of decrease in sales can receive up to 200,000 yen per day.

refrain from unnecessary outings

The number of people who tested positive for new COVID-19 variants continues to increase, and the percentage of people with unknown transmission route infections exceeds 50%, so it must suspect community infections. To prevent further spread of the infection, we ask all prefectural residents to refrain from unnecessary outings.

Regarding commuting to work, yesterday we held a web conference with economic organizations and requested them to strongly promote work from home (telework), staggered work hours, etc.

We would like to ask all prefectural residents and businesses for the cooperation.
