In order to provide courtesy services to tourists from overseas

Kyushu's seven prefectures, Fukuoka City, and Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization are working to create an environment which is friendly to tourists from overseas. Last February, Kyushu was designated as Kyushu Asia Tourism Island Special District by the national government. In the special district (entire area of Kyushu), even without a national qualification of an interpreter-guide, after trainings are completed and a registration is given by the governor, guides in the special district can provide interpretation and guide services to tourists from overseas for profit.

On February 24, trainings for guides in the special district started in Fukuoka Prefecture. 132 trainees learned knowledge and skills necessary for interpreter-guides like hospitality through language trainings of Chinese and Korean and on-site trainings of bus tours in ten days.
