A 'Sales Promotion Exhibition' was held in the U.S.A to promote Fukuoka's produce - namely the prefecture's mandarins and 'Amaou' strawberries.

Fukuoka's famous 'brand' of strawberry, the 'Amaou' strawberry, enjoys popularity in Asia as well as abroad. Recently, promotional fairs were held in a total of four American cities (including Los Angeles and New York) in the hope of expanding the strawberry's export base into America.
Fukuoka Prefecture has been making plans to export its mandarins to the U.S.A ever since an American embargo was lifted in July, 2016. Recently, the prefecture was able to export its mandarins to mainland America for the first time, hence the decision to hold a promotional fair in Los Angeles.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand visits Fukuoka Prefecture.

Fukuoka Prefecture is the site of the prefectural assembly. Moreover, in a decision reached with the approval of the Thai government, it will soon become the site of 'The Consulate General Office of the Kingdom of Thailand'. These two facts enticed the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand (Somkid Jatusripitak) and his delegates to visit Fukuoka with the aim of promoting their nation.

On the 8th of February, the Thai Prime Minister had a conference with the governor, while on the 9th he gave a seminar about investment and finance in Thailand and later on attended a welcome reception.
